The team behind the popular ASICS Windermere Marathon has announced that they have taken over the organisation of the Langdale Road Races for 2018. Comprising marathon and half marathon distances, the races, with testing gradients that run through the heart of the Lake District, have a reputation for being some of the toughest in the UK.
Due to take place on Saturday 20 October, runners enjoy a stunning course in the Great Langdale and Little Langdale valleys with 360° views of the surrounding fells. The half marathon’s total ascent stands at 1700 feet, while the marathon is 2400.
Hosted in the heart of the Lake District, participants follow an anti-clockwise course from Great Langdale to Little Langdale and on to the picturesque hamlets of Skelwith Bridge and Chapel Stile. Climbing up to Blea Tarn and Foulstep (twice for marathoners) the courses are both thought to be some of the toughest in the UK.
In an opening offer for runners, anyone signing up for the Langdale Races, which also includes the Christmas Pudding 10K on Saturday 8 December, will receive a £10 discount if they register for the ASICS Windermere Marathon. The discount expires on Wednesday 21 February.
