It's the time runners start to think about 2013 resolutions and look ahead to the 10ks, half marathons and marathons in the spring calendar. Brendon Birch of Absolute Triathlon Club in Nottingham is one step ahead of the game however, with preparations for next year already underway.
For each day of the year, Brendon plans to run at least 5k as he aims to cover a minimum of 3000km (1864 miles). He will be completing this in the Nottingham area with runs taking place mainly around the Sawley, Long Eaton, Wollaton, Bestwood and Arnold areas.
Throughout his challenge, Brendon will be raising money for the Karen Green Foundation, a charity that assists with individuals researching, treating and fighting leukaemia and cancers of the blood. He has been inspired by fellow triathlete and club member Mick Green, who set up the charity earlier this year in memory of his wife Karen who lost her battle with leukaemia in July 2011.
Reflecting on his reasons for raising money for the charity Brendon explained: "Mick is an inspiration to us all and I'm not the first to say how amazing it is to see how he has managed to turn a heart-breaking situation, which would have destroyed most and turned it into the most amazing foundation."
