Saturday 20 October will see the one of the most scenic half marathons in the UK celebrate its 30th year. The Langdale Half Marathon, set in the heart of the Lake District, gives runners the opportunity of some stunning scenery, with the course providing 360° views of the surrounding fells.
Entries for the upcoming event, which is now under the direction of the team behind the ASICS Windermere Marathon, are open, with prospective entrants able to enter for just £18.
The half has established its reputation over three successful decades partly due to a stunning course that takes in both the Great Langdale and Little Langdale valleys. Runners will follow an anti-clockwise route that that also incorporates picturesque hamlets of Skelwith Bridge and Chapel Stile.
Climbing up to Blea Tarn and Foulstep the course is also believed to be one of the toughest on the circuit. This isn’t for the fainthearted: some steep climbs have gradients that reach 1:3.
The current registration price will rise to £20 when entries move beyond the 150 mark, then hit £22 at 301. To snap up a reduced price entry to what is one of the north of England's best half marathons, visit the event website here.
