10,000 Set To Dash On Sunday

runners at the Abbey Dash

This Sunday (6 November) will see the 31st staging of the Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash and 10,000 runners - club, recreational, charity and elites - are set to be on the start line. The Dash once again plays host to the Home Countries International and with an extremely fast course, an enthralling contest at the top end is expected. Adam Hickey, winner of the recent Aldi Manchester Half, Jonny Mellor, Aly Dixon and Sonia Samuels are all confirmed for the England team.

In addition to being an ideal 10k for a PB, the Dash raises money for Age UK, Britain's largest charity for older people. Organisers have estimated that more than £300,000 was raised from the 2015 race alone.

As part of the final preparations, organisers have called on anyone willing to be a volunteer for Sunday’s race. If you live locally and are keen to be involved, get in touch with Caroline from AgeUK (Caroline.Forbes@ageuk.org.uk).

Tomorrow Saturday (6 November), England Athletics are hosting a Northern Endurance Symposium for coaches at Leeds Beckett University. Speakers at this free event include Malcolm Brown, coach to the Brownlees. Further information is available at the England Athletics website.
