Sheffield running store, Accelerate, is expanding with the opening of the Accelerate Performance Centre. Set to open today (Friday 4 April), the centre will aim to enhance the performance of runners or other sportspeople and aid injury management and recovery.
Based at Accelerate on Attercliffe Road, the Performance Centre is managed by Marcus Scotney – a soft tissue therapist, endurance coach and also a long distance runner, most recently winning the 108 mile Spine Challenger race. The centre is the brain-child of Accelerate owners, Stuart Hale, Debbie Smith and podiatrist Colin Papworth.
Stuart Hale commented: “Customer service has always been a key part of our offering. As runners ourselves we know the importance of having the right equipment, but we also know how useful it is to have a range of services at your fingertips to help improve running style, and aid recovery in the unfortunate case of an injury.”
Stuart added: “We also go beyond this as we will also offer endurance coaching, sports testing and workshops designed to enhance any runners knowledge and skill base.”
The centre has an impressive line-up of professional therapists and coaches who specialise in; podiatry, biomechanical assessments, running technique, injury assessment, osteopath, soft-tissue therapy and sports nutrition. For endurance and session coaching, the team boasts specialties in: heart rate and periodisation; sports testing and run technique; endurance coaching; speed development; fell running.
