National Adventure Awards Open For Nominations

Adventure awardsThe National Adventure Awards – now in their third year – are officially open for nominations for 2015. Building on the success of previous years’ successes, the 2016 National Adventure Awards seek to recognise the very best of adventure across the UK.

Director of the Awards, David Scott, said: “We know there are many people undertaking incredible endeavours across the world and these are the people we are seeking to hear about.  We are determined to recognise the right people and teams so the more nominations we receive the better.”
This year nominations are sought for Adventurer of the Year, Team of the Year, Media Award, Inspiring Others Award, Leadership Award, Service Provider Award, Charity Award, Business/Academic Award, as well as Physical Endeavour Award. Judges are looking for evidence of quality, integrity and overall excellence. Entries will be judged for their specific category but must also display two out of the three criteria: physical challenge, cultural interaction and an element of risk.
2015 provided no shortage of outstanding achievement as judge and fellow adventurer, Cameron McNeish, explained: “I thought I’d lived a fairly adventurous life but when I looked through the list of nominees for the National Adventure Awards and wondered at some of the amazing things that young people do nowadays I felt as though I’d been merely tickling the surface of adventure.”
Adventure runners have always been well represented at the Awards. Our adventurer running contributor, Shona Thomson, was nominated in 2014 for her seven marathons on seven continents and North Pole marathon adventures. In 2015, Shona sat on the judging panel with fellow ultra runner, Mimi Anderson, who won the Physical Endeavour Award in 2014.
Nominations for the 2016 National Adventure Awards close on 31 October 2015 with shortlisted candidates notified on 5 November. The National Adventure Awards Ceremony will be held on 16 March 2016 at Glasgow's Grand Central Hotel. If you know of anyone worthy of consideration by our judging panel please submit your nomination to the Scottish Adventure Awards website. For a full round up of the 2015 Awards, please visit
