All About The Family At Great Manchester Run

Great Manchester Run

Parental commitments can often mean less time for exercise, an issue that the Great Run Company is looking to address by offering free family places for the 2018 Simplyhealth Great Manchester Run. The event organisers are offering four sets of free entries for families, plus training plans, expert led sessions and ongoing advice in preparation for the 10k on Sunday 20 May.

Initially launched as a legacy event following the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, the Great Manchester Run has enjoyed a remarkable rise to prominence and now stands as Europe’s largest 10k road race with an average of 25,000 runners competing annually.

The offer for the event covers adult entries into the main 10K, as well as the opportunity for kids aged three to 15 to take part in the popular Simplyhealth Junior and Mini Great Manchester Run on the same day.

David Hart, from event organisers the Great Run Company, spoke of the motivation behind the offer: “We're hoping that we can inspire people to start a new chapter in their family story in 2018. We know how hard it is for parents of young children to stay fit and healthy while also juggling the demands of home and work life.

“This challenge can help them set realistic goals that will benefit the whole family, and with our support, give them the opportunity to be positive role models for their kids when it comes to being healthier and more active all year round.”
