Anglesey Half Moves Beyond 1000

Anglesey Half MarathonRace organisers Always Aim High Events have announced that entries for the Jones o Gymru Anglesey Half Marathon are gathering pace with more than 1000 runners already signed up. With a start point on the iconic Menai Suspension Bridge on the beautiful island of Anglesey, the half marathon is one of the most unique and attractive races on the UK circuit.

Scheduled for Sunday 6 March, the race sees runners move along the gorgeous Menai Strait coastline all the way up to Beaumaris with Snowdonia as a dramatic backdrop. The race is often referred to as being the UK’s most beautiful half marathon and is perfect pre-London and Manchester marathon preparation.

The 2015 event saw Eryri Harriers dominate the top positions, with a 1-2-3 in the men’s competition and a female winner. Alun Vaughan took first place in a time of 1:11:21, with club-mates Richard Roberts (1:11:49) and Russell Bentley (1:13:06) in second and third places respectively.

In the women’s field, Eryri tasted more success with Lauren Jeska securing a comfortable victory in 1:22:58. Hannah Oldroyd finished in second place with a time of 1:24:22, while Jenny Clague rounded off the top trio of female performers in 1:25:09.
