Ashmei, better known for producing high-quality running apparel, has made its first venture into the events calendar with the launch of two races this summer. The events, an 18 mile trail run and 33 mile ultra, are both set at Ullswater Lake and will offer competitors stunning views of the Lake District.
Organised for Sunday 18 August, the trail run follows the lake's perimeter for the entire 18 miles, and with a total elevation gain of 168m, will present a fairly undulating course for competitors. A 3D flyover video of the route is available here.
Like the trail run, the ultra will begin at Ullswater before moving through the surrounding mountains. With specific checkpoints located throughout the course, competitors will be required to use orienteering skills to navigate through the 33 miles. With a total elevation of 2259m, the race looks likely to present a stern test for ultra runners.
The 18 mile trail run is priced at £35, with the ultra set at £40. All finishers will receive a £10 gift voucher, medal and goody bag. The top three in each category will also be able to kit themselves out in the latest Ashmei running clothes. More information is available on the Ashmei website.
