Berghaus has launched its a Trail Chase for 2014, an exciting new event that provides a weekend of trail running adventure in the stunning North York Moors National Park. Offering three courses that are fully way-marked and marshalled, the inaugural event is scheduled for the weekend of 16 and 17 August, with entries for the race already open.
The three courses are colour coded and signed just like ski pistes with the longest course (55k) featuring black signs and black race numbers for the competitors, the middle course (40k) feature red signs and red race numbers and the shortest course (25k) featuring blue signs and blue race numbers.
The event begins with competitors arriving, parking and registering at the Event Centre on Saturday morning. From here, competitors are transported to their respective day one starts, which are different for each course. All three courses then converge on the same overnight campsite at the end of the first day.
Day two of the event is where the fun really starts as the chase takes shape. Competitors will set off in the same order that they finished the first day, attempting to close the gap from the previous day. With a real head-to-head race developing, competitors will know that if they pass someone they will have improved their overall position, and the first people to cross the finish line will be the winners.
Shane Ohly from Ourea Events commented: "The unique aspect of this event is the mammoth chasing start on the second day. It'll see competitors start in the same order that they finished the first day, thus ensuring thrilling head-to-head racing all the way to the finish line."
Competitors can enter as individuals, a club team or simply run for the pure enjoyment of it with an informal group of friends. For more information, visit the Berghaus Trail Chase website.
