The Journey To Berlin

In anticipation of the 41st Berlin Marathon on 28 September, a short film documenting four participants' involvement in the 2014 race has been released to whet runners' appetites. Entitled 'The Journey', the film captures a casual runner out to set a PB, an experienced masters runner, a wheelchair athlete and an elite competitor from Kenya.

Last year's race saw Wilson Kipsang break Patrick Makau's marathon world record of 2:03:38 (also set in Berlin in 2011) by winning the race in  2:03:23.

The famously fast course starts in the centre of Berlin, between the Brandenburg Gate and Victory Column, taking runners out to the west of the city, before heading east past the Reichstag and television tower. The route then leads down to the south west of the city; passing the iconic Kaiser-Willhelm Church and Postdamer Platz. The finishing straight is on one of Berlin's most famous streets, Unter den Linden, with the finish line just through the Brandenburg Gate.
