Big Apple Has Big Appeal

Runners cross Brooklyn Bridge

After the disappointment of the cancellation of the 2012 ING New York City marathon, there is added excitement ahead of this year's race on 3 November. As a result, race organisers New York Road Runners are expecting an even greater demand for places than normal.

New York marathon annually gets over 100,000 applicants with around 47,000 runners taking part (2,000 from the UK). The atmosphere at the race is unforgettable and has to be sampled to be believed. British runners, in particular, receive a warm welcome from the locals and plenty of support from the visiting supporters. Sports Tours International is offering guaranteed places for UK runners. Their full travel packages include flights, hotel accommodation, airport transfers, rep services and the option to purchase marathon entry. There are also hotel-only packages with the option of purchasing marathon entry, and flight and entry-only packages.

The event has grown over the last 40 years to become the biggest of the six World Majors and takes runners through the five boroughs of New York to finish in Central Park. For more information, visit the Sports Tours International website.
