The north east is set to welcome another parkrun with confirmation of an event at Blackhill and Consett Heritage Park. Blackhill parkrun will mean the north east now boasts 15 separate events, with the inaugural run organised for 13 July.
The latest addition will also be one of the most difficult, with a challenging course that starts outside the Lodge and moves up hill for three clockwise laps. After the inaugural event, organisers are encouraging runners to meet up for refreshments in the bowling club.
The launch of Blackhill parkrun means that the north east is fast catching up with its neighbouring areas in terms of events. The north west currently hosts 19, while Yorkshire and Humberside has 21 separate runs.
