2013 is shaping up to be an exciting year for runners on Merseyside with the launch of btrliverpool (in its longer form - Born To Run Liverpool). The new brand is a development of the successful Run Liverpool project which has built up a portfolio of top-class events in the city including RunLiverpool marathon, RunLiverpool half marathon, the Tunnel 10K and the Santa Dash.
Now ambitious Alan Rothwell and his experienced team are extending the range of services available to local runners under the new btrliverpool banner to include a membership scheme offering various benefits, high quality merchandise and a new Get Going campaign aimed at beginners.
Alan was in expansive mood when he spoke to northernrunningguide.com yesterday: "The new year has started on a high for us as we celebrate the launch of btrliverpool at our new premises at 23 Hatton Garden - close to the city centre but with outside parking - and look forward to building on our popular events and develop our profile across the north-west.
"Getting the event portfolio right has been a big task in recent years, especially with the return of the marathon to Merseyside. I think the time is now right for us to develop the running offer and give everyone taking part in our events a greater sense of involvement. I think the introduction of the new identity along with training opportunities, a dynamic membership scheme and an interesting retail range will help create a greater sense of community. The coaching groups for the marathon and half marathon have proved there is a great sense of togetherness within the running community and I think btr will help develop that in 2013."
btrliverpool will operate alongside the complementary btrwirral brand and following the successful introduction of the RunWirral10K on marathon day in October, there are proposals for further 10K events in Cheshire.
The event portfolio will be enhanced by a btr Membership Scheme which will give members a discounted entry fee for btr events, excellent value event merchande and also their own VIP marquee at the end of each btr event where members can relax and discuss the day's events, perhaps enjoy a massage and refreshments.
Each event will have its own merchandising which will be available from the new office as well as at events (with discounts for btr Members) and there will also be a new Get Going campaign targeting beginners who would like to start jogging. The Get Going campaign will be free of charge and anyone can join in.
