Nominations for BTR Liverpool’s the Running Awards, scheduled for Friday 24 October, are now open. The event aims to pay tribute to the Merseyside’s running fraternity through the first ever community awards scheme.
The awards are the brainchild of RUN (Running Unites Network), a group of like-minded volunteer runners from across Merseyside who meet on a monthly basis to discuss all things running with RUN hosts, race organisers BTR Liverpool.
An award will be given in each of the seven categories: overcoming adversity; running community service; most inspirational individual; volunteer team of the year; running personality of the year; lifetime achievement; and running image of the year. The categories are designed to have the widest possible appeal and are open to people of all ages and abilities.
BTR race director Alan Rothwell commented: “The running community of Merseyside has really grown in recent years. The introduction of new events at all levels has attracted many first time runners to try the sport, while the more experienced race participants continue to be motivated by new challenges. There is already a lot of excitement surrounding the awards and we are keen to make this a key date in the annual running events calendar.”
To nominate, please write a brief overview as to why you think your candidate is suitable for the award. Send this, together with your contact details (name, address, telephone number) to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Alternatively, drop it into the BTR office or post to BTR Liverpool, 23 Hatton Garden, Liverpool, L3 2FE.
