As the countdown to the Bupa Great Manchester Run gathers pace, organisers of the event are searching for six women who would like some extra assistance and support with their preparations for the race on 18 May. First staged in 2003, the event is now established as one of the most popular 10ks in Europe, with around 40,000 taking part last year.
The support offered will include bespoke training programmes and advice, shorter distance training sessions and provision of running shoes for event day. There will also be an opportunity to meet one of the world's leading female distance runners.
Nova spokesperson, Kerry Simpson, said: "We'd like to follow the progress of six women from different walks of life on their journey to the start line, offering them extra assistance and support in their preparations. Whether it's a first time participant, a charity fundraiser or someone making her return to running, we'd love to hear from them."
Applicants are required to live in the Greater Manchester area and be at least 15 years old on May 18. To register interest, contact the Bupa team by Tuesday 21 January with a brief background and explaining your reasons for wishing to take part.
