Next year's Wincle Trout 9K will take place on Saturday June 4 2011, after a hugely successful race in 2010. Several course records were smashed in this year's race and organisers are hoping more will be broken in 2011.
Simon Harding of Macclesfield Harriers came home first in this year's race (June 5), nearly two minutes ahead of his nearest rival, Nat Winfield of Pennine Fell Runners. Sam Alston, a local man from Bosley, slashed the Male Vet 50 record by over four minutes and Debbie Hell beat the Lady Vet 50 record by nearly five minutes.
Also this year, Robin Britton took 48 seconds from the Male Vet 60 record, while Vicky Skelton shaved seven seconds from the Lady Vet 40 time.
At the end of the race, each runner gets a trout. The unique nature of this race, held as part of the Wincle annual fete, makes it really popular with runners and families alike. 2010 saw a record entry in the race, with participants coming from as far as Devon and Edinburgh to take part.
