There's always a temptation, what with Christmas presents and office parties, to put off committing to a race until after New Year. With many events offering discounted packages for early bird entry, however, it might be an idea to save a few extra pounds and get your place sorted before the end of the month.
Liverpool Rock n Roll Half Marathon and Marathon is likely to be in demand due to its high-octane atmosphere. The inaugural race is organised for Sunday 25 May 2014 and will begin at the Albert Dock, one of the most visited attractions in the UK. Price up until 31 December is £45 for the marathon and £30 for the half.
Blackpool Marathon and Half Marathon offers runners the opportunity of running along the city's stunning coastal front. On a traffic-free course that follows the length of the promenade, the event, scheduled for Sunday 6 April, is offering a discounted rate of £30 (£32 non-affiliated), and £20 (£22) for the marathon and half respectively until the close of the year.
Finally, Greater Manchester Marathon has established itself as one of the fastest courses in Europe. Perfect for PB chasers, the event is expecting up to 10,000 runners on 6 April. Unlike the previous two races, the discounted rate falls a little later - January 31 - before which you can take advantage of a £47.95 (or £49.95 unaffiliated) entry fee.
