Runners in the north west will have the opportunity to share their affinity with the great outdoors at the Cumbrian Fell Fest in Cockermouth. The event, which aims to promote everything the county has to offer in terms of walking, running, cycling and climbing, will take place over the weekend of 6-7 April.
Broadcaster and Wasdale resident Eric Robson is one of the key figures featuring at the festival, and is hoping the event will promote all the county has to offer: "I have lived in Wasdale for more than 25 years and have been lucky enough to walk the fells of this gorgeous county with one of the greats, Alfred Wainwright. We shared a passion for this amazing landscape and I hope to communicate some of that enthusiasm to those visiting Fell Fest."
Of particular interest to runners will be the attendance of Ricky Lightfoot, who will be leading a Family Fell Run and five mile fell race. Ricky, who trains with local club Ellenborough, has established himself as an international trail runner, taking third position at the 2009 World Long Distance Mountain Running Challenge.
