Sony, the official smartphone and SmartWear sponsor of Tough Mudder for 2015, has recruited celebrities Vanessa White and Rick Edwards to tackle the 10-12 mile course on 1 August. The duo will embark upon a tech-inspired training programme using Sony’s latest SmartWear devices to prepare for the obstacle-laden race.
Vanessa, part of the successful girl group The Saturdays, and Rick, broadcaster and writer, will begin their training at a Team Sony boot camp. They will receive a tech-inspired training schedule designed by Tough Mudder coach Richard Tidmarsh. Kitted out with an Xperia Z3 smartphone, SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk, each team member will be able to use Sony’s dedicated Lifelog app to track their progress.
The event, scheduled over the weekend of 1 and 2 August, will take place at Broughton Hall, Yorkshire. Set over 10-12 miles, the course will see competitors run through Yorkshire moorland into a series of innovative and challenging obstacles.
The description on the website reads: ‘Running over rough, rolling fields, through daringly dense woodlands and into streams, bogs and pools of thick, heavy mud and clay, every step on this course feels like an obstacle in itself.’
