While the first ever Chester 10K may have sold out in less than two weeks, runners looking for an exciting challenge in the North West can still take advantage of the fact that entries for its sister 13.1 mile event remain open.
News of Active Leisure Events’ decision to add a 10k race to their portfolio, reported in runABC North last month, had an inevitable outcome with all of the 2,000 places snapped up.
Yet, the Essar Chester Half Marathon, scheduled for Sunday 29 April, will provide comfort for those looking to tackle a high-profile and well organised event in the area. Over the past six years, the half marathon has grown in popularity, with organisers Active Leisure Events seeing the size of the field almost triple in size since taking over in 2012.
This has coincided too with some positive feedback from runners – the event was named as one of the UK’s 50 Best Races – with Chester being recognised for the quality of a speedy and varied course that begins at Chester Racecourse.
Sunday 29 April will see the event celebrate its 37th staging – to book your place, visit the event website. Registration is priced at £35 or £33 for affiliated runners.
