Runners in the North West will need to mark a new date in their 2018 calendar with news that Chester is set to host a new high-profile 10K. Organised by Active Leisure Events, the team behind the highly successful Chester Marathon, Metric and Half Marathon races, the 10k will make the most of the city’s Roman and medieval features and, also, take place on a speedy course.
Scheduled for Sunday 4 March, the race will become Chester’s only city-based 10K and the first for many years. The planned route will start near the Northgate Arena and head west out of the city along wide roads, allowing runners to settle quickly into race pace.
The course will then pass through the picturesque village of Mollington, before returning to the heart of Chester City centre and finishing outside the Victorian town hall and medieval Cathedral.
News of the Chester 10K launch was received with excitement across social media, indicating that the 10k, as with Active Leisure Events’ other races, will be much sought after.
Entries for the Chester 10K will open at midnight on 1 January. Further information is available here.
