The successful Jane Tomlinson Run For All series, which includes the Leeds Half Marathon and York 10K, has taken over the organisation of the 2015 City of Lincoln 10K. Former England football manager Graham Taylor returned to home turf to launch the event, scheduled for the weekend of 21/22 March.
The new look 10k means the Run for All team will organise the race in partnership with City of Lincoln Council. Next year’s event will also include the Arena Group City of Lincoln Mini and Junior Runs on Saturday 21 March, where youngsters aged between 9 and 14 will be encouraged to pull on their trainers to take part.
Looking ahead, the 2015 event will represent the 19th running of the event, with runners enjoying a course that takes in some of Lincoln’s historic landmarks including the cathedral and the city’s Roman Walls.
Graham, a former Lincoln City player who started his managerial career at the club, leading the Imps to the 4th Division title in 1976, said: “Lincoln is a wonderful city and I am delighted to help launch such an excellent event as the 10K. I’m sure there will be a brilliant atmosphere on the day. The runners will get great support and, along with the achievement of crossing the finish line, they will have the satisfaction of helping some really deserving charities.”
