Arguably the hardest iron-distance triathlon in the world, the Rat Race City to Summit returns on 7 June 2015. The event involves swimming 2.4 miles in the Firth of Forth, cycling 112 miles across the Scottish Highlands and running 27 miles through rough terrain before heading up and over Ben Nevis.
The 140-mile race, was held for the second time last year and despite sunny conditions and 360 degree views atop Ben Nevis, the race was described by competitors as 'brutal'. Even the lead competitor took three hours to cover the final seven miles.
Duncan Borthwick, a participant last year, said of the event: "Definitely the finest outing in the UK! Many thanks to Rat Race and all the supporters and well wishers along the route.”
Organisers Rat Race are encouraging competitors to embrace the challenge, saying: "Have you got what it takes to tackle this beast in one continuous stint? Be bold, be brave, and toe the line to see if you can conquer The Ben. The journey to the summit starts here…"
