The 25th anniversary of the BTR Liverpool Half Marathon on 25 March 2018 already looks like it will be a highly memorable occasion with over 500 places having been snapped up. To mark the commemorative event, runners have until midday today (Thursday 27 April) to register for the bargain price of just £25 (or £23 for UK affiliated runners).
Staged for a quarter of a century, the half marathon is regarded as one of the key races in the North West. The flagship event from organiser BTR Liverpool, the half boasts a grandstand start and finish line area on the city’s stunning UNESCO World Heritage Waterfront.
Throughout the years, one of the race’s big attractions has been the brilliant course, which takes in the Albert Dock, Museum of Liverpool, Liverpool Cathedral and Sefton Park Palm House, and features a three-mile home straight along Otterspool Promenade back to the finish at the iconic Pier Head.
In 2017, 4,000 runners were given their starters orders by former Liverpool FC legends Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler and Gary McAllister. Dejene Gezimu successfully defend his title, while Michelle Nolan took first in a hotly contested female competition.
