Sunday marked one of Derbyshire’s most popular events, the Clowne Half Marathon. The race, attracting more than 600 runners, saw Emily Collinge take first position in the female competition, plus third overall, in an impressive time of 1:15:02.
Organised by Clowne Road Runners, the race follows a hilly loop through surrounding areas and passes the nearby Whaley, Elmton, Creswell and Whitwell. Known for its relatively undulating profile, the route has peaks at 3,6,9 and 12 miles.
Collinge, of Vegeterian Cycle & AC, set a sizable PB en route to victory. Prior to this race, the 24-year-old had posted a 1:18:41 at the Egmond Half Marathon in January. Bridget Coomber was the closest competitor in the female field, coming second in 1:27:30.
In the men’s competition, Leicester Coritanian’s Chris Jordon secured first place in 1:12:30, with Matt Adcock second (1:12:45). Stacey Ramsey was the mid-point competitor in 1:49:49, while the last runner came home in 2:55:23.
