The club competition at Manchester Half Marathon has become even fiercer with organisers supplementing this year’s prize pot. In addition to the cash prize awarded to each team, the winning club will also receive five free entries to races in the Xtra Mile Events portfolio.
The half marathon made an extremely impressive entry into the racing calendar with 8,500 runners taking part in October last year. A big draw is the superfast course, with a mere 41m elevation gain and a glorious two-mile+ finish straight. Statistics from 2016 show that 74% of the first 50 finishers achieved either a PB or SB.
As with 2016, a prize of £600 will be awarded to the first team in the Running Club Clash on Sunday 15 October, with £300 for second and £150 for third. A team prize will be awarded to the top three male and female teams made up of the top three runners' cumulative times from a UKA-affiliated club.
New for this year will be a special discount given to the club with the quickest top three cumulative times. The winning club will also receive free entries to the ASICS Oulton Park Half Marathon & 10k (25 February 2018), Cancer Research UK Manchester Winter Run 10k (11 March 2018), ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon (8 April 2018), Manchester Half Marathon 2018 (date TBD).
