England Athletics is inviting road running clubs from across the country to take part in its 2018 Club Run programme. The free initiative assists clubs with a series of coaching sessions, led by coaches affiliated to the England Athletics development programme with experience in off-track running.
Applications for the 2018 programme, which will encompass three coach-led visits over a three month period, are now open. The sessions will each last between 90 minutes to two hours and will assist club runners in their pursuit of improving speed, judging race pace, targeting PBs, or preparing for a long distance event.
Each of the visits will be focused and concentrated on the aspirations of the club’s runners and entail specific warm up and cool down components. Support and guidance will be on offer to the club’s coaches and leaders.
Over the last 18 months, the programme has proven to be highly successful, with 64 clubs across the country and over 2000 runners taking part. A further 40 clusbs will be presented with the opportunity in 2018: the closing date for the next round of applications is midnight on Sunday 18 February.
