After the success of the inaugural event last year, the Merseyside Running Community Awards returns on Friday 13 November with four new categories added. Organisers have also announced that nominations, which are made to honour celebrate, recognise and thank the individuals and groups who make a huge difference to Merseyside running, are now open.
The awards are the brainchild of RUN (Running Unites Network), a group of like-minded volunteer runners from across Merseyside who meet on a regular basis to discuss all things running with race organisers BTR Liverpool. Collectively, RUN and BTR Liverpool created the Merseyside Running Community Awards last year to showcase and celebrate all that is positive and inspiring about the sport locally.
BTR race director Alan Rothwell commented: “The RUN Group and BTR are thrilled with how the running community has embraced the awards from day one, feedback has been excellent and very encouraging. These are awards for runners, by runners, which is really important.
“Nominations have already started flooding in. There are so many runners across Merseyside who remain unsung heroes for what they are achieving and how they inspire others, so this is the perfect way for them to be recognised by their fellow runners.
The categories for this year’s event are as follows: Inspirational Individual; Services To The Running Community; Best Running Moment; Volunteer Team; Running Personality; Charity Fundraiser; Club Of The Year; Newcomer of the Year; Lifetime Achievement; Running Image of the Year
Nominations with a short overview of the individual/group should be sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday 5 October.
