Conti Lightning Strikes Again

Conti Lightning RunOrganisers of the 12-hour Conti Lightning Run have confirmed that the race will return for its fourth year on Bank Holiday Sunday 1 May. The event, which takes place at Catton Park in Derbyshire, will see competitors cover a 10k circuit as many times as possible over the 12 hour duration.

The Conti Lightning Run can be tackled solo, in pairs or in a team of five, with participants required to carry on running for the full 12 hours. The cross-country circuit is said to be challenging, with twists and turns across varied terrain.

Event sponsors are Continental Tyres who have been working with leading shoe brand adidas for six years as grip partner; there are more than 80 styles of running and trekking adidas shoes that now feature Continental’s technology.

Up to 1,000 runners are expected to compete in the May event, with Pedro Upton, set to return once again: “It's one of the races I look forward to most each year. It has everything a good race needs, scenic trails, camping, friends and loads of food.
“The competition is getting stronger each year now, so it's 12 hours of running hard and keeping your focus. If the weather turns and it rains a bit, it becomes twice as hard and double the fun. If it's sunny and warm, you can eat loads of ice cream. Either way, you're in for the time of your life.”

Due to an early morning start to the run, free on-site camping and parking is available to runners and spectators. More information is availble here.
