With less than a week until the UK’s biggest festive run takes place, organisers BTR Liverpool are calling on competitors to support the Santa Dash’s official charity, Claire House Children’s Hospice. The aim is for this year’s Dashers to raise up to £20,000 for the hospice, which has sites in Liverpool and Wirral, and has been set up to help seriously and terminally ill children live life to the full by creating wonderful experiences and bringing back a sense of normality to family life.
In what will be the 14th staging of the event, this Sunday’s (3 Demceber) Santa Dash will see Merseyside transformed into a sea of red and blue santas as they congregate at Pier Head and make their way over a 5k course that moves through the city centre before a grandstand finish outside Liverpool Town Hall.
The 5k has been known, throughout the years, as an all-inclusive affair with walkers, hoppers, skippers and four-legged friends all invited to take part. Staged alongside the Santa Dash is the popular 1K Mini Dash – ideal for the whole family.
As this year’s event fast approaches, BTR Liverpool has set up a Santa Dash pop-up shop which has been opened on the upper level of St Johns Shopping Centre, where Santas can sign-up and collect their Santa suits.
Entrants for Sunday’s run are able to join the Liverpool Santa Dash Claire House fundraising team by setting up their own JustGiving Page, or simply add a donation at the hospice’s official page here.
