The deadline for the 2018 edition of the Sherwoods Vauxhall Darlington 10K is fast approaching with any entrants required to sign up before Friday (3 August). Registration for Sunday’s (12 August) is priced at just £16.50, or £14.50 for affiliated runners, a bargain for anyone chasing a late summer PB.
Over 2000 runners are expected to turn out for what is the event’s 31st staging. The race, which takes runners on a traffic-free, two-lap course that finishes on High Row, is said to entail just 60m of elevation.
2017 saw close to 2000 runners compete in what was a star-studded field. New Marske Harriers’ Dominic Shaw claimed first in a speedy 30:02 to take victory ahead of Jonny Mellor (30:07), while Wondiye Indelbu, winner in 2013 and 2014, was fourth (30:27).
Leeds City AC’s Emma Clayton finished top in the women’s competition in 35:12, while Catherine Taylor took second in 35:32 and Birtley AC’s Tracy Millmore third (36:14).
Next weekend’s event also includes a Junior 3K and Family Fun Run. Registration is available here.
