BTR Liverpool is targeting a record turnout of 10,000 runners in a bid to reclaim the World Santa title back from Las Vegas on 1 December. This year will also coincide with the event's 10th birthday, and organisers are hoping that their 'back the dash 2013' campaign will result in a (friendly) victory over their transatlantic neighbours.
Ambassadors of this year's Santa Dash - Beth Tweddle, Craig Phillips and Alex Fletcher - took to the streets on a horse-drawn sleigh to warn that it'll be 'snow joke' if Las Vegas secured the crown yet again. This year's official charity is Claire House Children's Hospice.
As well as the main 5K run across the city, there will once again be the 1K Mini Dash for Under 12s and blue suits will once again be in evidence as many Evertonians proudly take part in their own version of more traditional Santa costume.
As ever, the 2012 Santa Dash resulted in the early chimes of the Christmas spirit arriving on Merseyside and came with a record turnout to boot. With 8,000 Santa clad runners descending on Piers Head, plus 500 taking part in the Mini Dash, the event turned out to be the most popular yet.
This year, all Santas will receive a special 10th anniversary commemorative medal on completion of the race. Standard entry for the Santa Dash costs £20, while the Mini Dash is priced at £10. After you sign up, you can collect your Santa suit from btr's headquarters in Hatton Garden. For more information, visit the btr Liverpool website.
