The recently launched Donington Summer Running Festival 10K event will be included in what is regarded as the most prestigious prize on the UK racing circuit, The Great Club Challenge.
Any club affiliated to England Athletics or Scottish Athletics can take part and in will be in contention for a prize that includes a trip to Addis Ababa to compete at the Great Ethiopian Run, while also enjoying a personal meeting with the world’s greatest ever distance runner, Haile Gebrselassie,
The newest addition to the Great Run series, the festival – which also includes a 10 mile and 5k races – will take place at the famous Donington racecourse in the East Midlands. Scheduled for Sunday 26 June, the course will take runners around the site, starting and finishing in front of the grandstand, and taking in the Coppice and Melbourne Hairpin.
In partnership with England Athletics and Scottish Athletics, The Great Club Challenge starts with the Great Edinburgh Run (17 April), Great Birmingham 10K (1 May), Great Bristol 10K (15 May), Great Manchester Run (22 May), The Sun Donington Summer Running Festival 10K (26 June), Great Newham London Run (17 July), Great North 10K (3 July) and the iconic Great North Run (11 September).
Any club affiliated to England Athletics or Scottish Athletics can take part, as long as they field a minimum of four men and four women in any given event. More info is available here.
