Organisers of the English Half Marathon and 10K have announced both races have reached capacity, with over 3000 runners expected to compete this Sunday (21 September). The event is now under the banner of the EHM Festival of Run, which includes the half marathon distance, 10K Road Race Challenge and LiveWire Warrington Mile, all of which start and finish in the newly re-developed Victoria Park.
The half marathon received considerable interest after the initial staging last year and was included in the top 10 UK half marathons at the Running Awards. The 2013 event began with a spectacular entrance by the RAF parachute display team, who descended 10,000 feet ahead of the 9am start. The course took runners from a picturesque, tree-lined start point at Victoria Park through the southern communities of Warrington.
English Half Marathon and 10K runners will head towards the beautiful suburban areas of South Warrington where good support is expected from local communities and a number of musical points have been planned to provide runners with an extra boost. The course then returns to Victoria Park for a grandstand finish with live music from WireFM, a food festival and charity village.
While the 10k and half marathon events are now full, entries are still being taken for the LiveWire Mile event. Registration closes on Thursday 18 September and is priced at just £5 per person and includes a t-shirt and medal. More information is available here.
