The EHM Festival of Run cemented its reputation as one of the leading events in the country with almost 3000 runners taking part in the half marathon, 10k and mile races. Liverpool Harriers’ Dan Cliffe secured a comfortable first place in the half marathon, with Kelly Crickmore leading the female field home.
Since its initial staging last year, the event has received considerable interest and was included in the top 10 UK half marathons at the Running Awards. The course saw runners move towards the beautiful suburban areas of South Warrington before returning to Victoria Park for a grandstand finish.
Cliffe, winner at last month’s Ellesmere 10K, set a PB of 68:10 to take top position with Andrew Green (1:14:32) second and Paul Sankey (1:14:57) in third place. In the women’s field, Kelly Crickmore secured first position and eighth overall with a time of 78:58.
The immediate response on the EHM Facebook was positive, with one runner, Stuart Goodwin, praising the organisation: “I did a marathon last month which was woefully short of marshals, and all the poorer for it - it was so heartening and reassuring to see so many volunteers everywhere along the route in Warrington. Get behind the brilliant volunteers and they'll help make a brilliant race. Many thanks to all of them.”
