With less than two weeks until race day, entries for the 11th annual BTR Mersey Tunnel 10K are gathering pace with over 2,300 runners already signed up. Scheduled for Sunday 19 June, the event is one of the jewels in the crown of the BTR Liverpool portfolio with a course that takes competitors through the Kingsway Wallasey Tunnel.
Known for its unique setting, the Tunnel has seen its stock consistently rise since it was first staged in 2006. The point to point course starts in Blackstock Street in Liverpool City Centre and finishing at Ian Fraser Walk in New Brighton, just past Perch Rock and the Marine Lake.
2015 saw over 3,000 competitors enjoy fine summer weather for a race that represents the opportunity to run beneath the River Mersey. Taurus Ely completed a trio of consecutive Tunnel victories with a fine winning performance of 32:35, while the first female finisher was Kirsty Longley from Liverpool Pembroke Sefton Harriers in 37:58.
Entries are still being taken for the BTR Mersey Tunnel 10K, registration is priced at £23. More information is available here.
