Registration for the popular Puma Stockport 10 opened earlier this week with event organisers anticipating up to 1000 entries for this year's race. Scheduled for Sunday 9 December, the 10 mile race is viewed as ideal preparation for anyone planning a new year half marathon or spring marathon.
Organised by Stockport Harriers, the one lap course starts in Woodbank Park, Offerton, and follows an undulating route with challenging climbs at 5 and 8.5 miles. Last year's event saw Altrincham & District AC's Matt Barnes take first place in 50:55, with club-mate Mohammed Abu-Rezeq second in 51:44.
The Stockport 10 is priced at £15 for affiliated runners and £17 non-affiliated. Chip timing has been introduced for this year's race, while each competitor will also receive a long-sleeve technical running top. Entries close on Thursday 1 November.
