The btr Liverpool team has announced that entries for the inaugural Wirral half marathon are now open. The event, staged on the same day as Wirral 10K, was launched after the enforced cancellation of Liverpool marathon in February this year.
Scheduled for Sunday 13 October, Wirral half marathon takes in the first six miles of the marathon course and starts at Birkenhead Park. Runners will pass along the promenade from the Wallasey Ferry and finish in New Brighton.
The Wirral 10K, expected to draw in a field of 1,000 competitors, is a point-to-point course that starts and finishes at the same point as the half marathon and is said to offer a great PB opportunity for runners. Last year's race saw Hunters Bog Trotters' Ross Clark take first place in 35:09, with Rachel Burns (37:33) coming out top in the female field.
Standard entry fee for the half marathon is £26, while the 10k is priced at £20. For more information and to register, visit the btr Liverpool website.
