Entries for the Asda Foundation York 10K are now open after the event was officially launched last week at the landmark Clifford’s Tower. The race, organised for Sunday 7 August, is one of the highlights of the Run for All series and is expected to attract upwards of 6,000 participants.
Starting and finishing on the Knavesmire, the course takes in some of this medieval city’s most stunning scenery including ancient Goodramgate, the majestic York Minster and Clifford’s Tower where Henry VIII executed ‘traitors.’ Even with a picturesque backdrop, the course is said to be flat with a good PB potential.
Julie Ward at Asda Foundation: “It’s easy to see why the York 10K is one of the highlights of the Asda Foundation series of events. York is a beautiful city, the runners raise lots of money for good causes and there is always a brilliant atmosphere. Good luck to everyone taking part.”
Organised by Run For All, the run forms part of the legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson who raised nearly £2m for charity. Since its launch in 2009 the event has raised a considerable amount for good causes; in 2015 alone, it raised an estimated £160,000 for charity.
