Organisers of XtremeSTORM, billed as the World's Toughest Urban Assault Challenge, have sounded a rallying call to adventure enthusiasts by advertising their event as the 'world's toughest urban assault challenge.' Starting and finishing at Victoria Park on Saturday 20 April, adrenaline lovers will tackle a challenging 18k course that promises an armoury of punishment.
After leaving Victoria Park, competitors will face several miles of coastal 'fun' before moving on to the icy waters of Hell Island, 500 metres west of Southport. There, a 1000 metre long maze will await runners, with the course then moving on to a blacked out Rat Tunnel to face the 'xtreme unknown.'
XtremeSTORM race director, Jonathan Cunningham, is a former army major and with 20 years in the military and service in the Gulf War, he is no stranger to hostile places.
Speaking about the obstacles that competitors can expect, Jonathan explained: “The XtremeSTORM design team have used all of the natural features of the undergrowth and trees and it really has captured the imagination as we are the first urban endurance obstacle event to include an island as one of our main features."
