Farah To Run At Glasgow Diamond League

Mo Farah

Double Olympic champion, Mo Farah, will compete at Glasgow's Diamond League meeting on 11-12 July. The 30-year-old will take part in the event at Hampden Park just two weeks before the city hosts the Commonwealth Games.

The meeting is being held in Glasgow due to the Olympic Stadium in London undergoing refurbishment work.  Farah looks unlikely to compete at the Commonwealth Games after describing them as 'not on his list' of events to compete in this year.  He has not yet confirmed what distance he will be running at the Glasgow Grand Prix.

Farah said: "Glasgow will be one of my first track appearances in front of a home crowd in 2014. And having produced my best in front of the British public in London, I'm really looking forward to getting back out there and taking in the home support.

"Nothing in the world can compare to a British crowd and I will be doing everything I can to get the Hampden crowd going."

Farah will be joined in Glasgow by world 400m champion and Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu, who said: "It is a real privilege to be competing at the first ever athletics event at Hampden. To have potentially 30,000 there in July, it's going to be an amazing atmosphere for both athletes and spectators."
