Guinness has confirmed a new world record for their 'fastest 10k dressed as an animal' category. Ian Cowell recorded 40:49 at Bournemouth Marathon Festival's Supersonic 10K on 3 October 2015 to set the new mark dressed as a cow.

Ian's Bournemouth 'cow' run was part of 40 sporting challenges he completed to celebrate his 40th birthday in 2015. Ian said: “If you’re doing events all the time then you need to keep engaging with people to maintain their interest. The reaction provoked by my Bournemouth record attempt really motivated me to keep going.”

The Supersonic 10K is one of six events taking place as part of the Bournemouth Marathon Festival weekend, consisting of Saturday’s 1.5K and 2K junior races, the 10K and spectacular Supernova 5K event before Sunday’s half marathon and marathon.

All six races take place on fast, PB-potential courses and feature the unique chance to run to the end of Bournemouth’s historic pier and back. Last year 11,000 runners enjoyed a sunny two days with an estimated £0.5m raised for charity. The 2016 event takes place on 1/2 October 2016 - more details at the event website.
