The Festive Flash Five will make a welcome return to the circuit next month when it celebrates its fourth staging on Sunday 25 November. As is now accustomed, participants are encouraged to get into the festive spirit by wearing Santa hats, Christmas jumpers or fancy dress, while organisers have again promised to arrange the mulled wine and treats for all finishers.
Part of the appeal of the race is its scenic (and challenging) route that covers trails, canal paths and short stretches of tarmac. For runners, it seems, five miles of the challenging course at Pennington Flash Country Park is seen as the perfect way to get into the festive spirit.
Ahead of this year’s race, which is looking likely to be a sell-out, Katie from organisers Pennington Events, told, runABC North: “We are really excited to be bringing back the fourth running of our festive race to Pennington Flash. The race is held on 25 November and sees runners compete on a multi-terrain route, often with some muddy sections along the way.”
Katie continued: “Although the route is fairly challenging this is an all inclusive event and the five mile course really is suitable for all levels of athletes. The event was a sell-out in 2017 so we are looking forward to a full field getting into the Christmas spirit.”
Entries for the Festive Flash Five remain open and priced at just £17 (£15 affiliated). More information is available here.
