Midnight this evening (31 March) marks the last chance for anyone looking to take advantage of early bird entry to the 2017 edition of the English Half Marathon and accompanying 10k race. Scheduled for Sunday 17 September, the event takes runners through Warrington and concludes with a spectacular finish through the iconic Golden Gates.
In what will be its ninth year, the EHM has regularly attracted a sell-out field with more than 3,000 taking part last year. 2015 witnessed a significant change to the EHM when, after six years of starting and finishing at Warrington’s Victoria Park, the race moved to the iconic Golden Gates of Warrington Town Hall.
This change has been popular with runners and allowed for new town centre race sections to be introduced. As such, both the half marathon and 10k courses leave from the Town Hall before crossing Bridgefoot and heading south.
In the later stages runners enjoy some great sights - the Guardians at Market Gate, the River of Life on Bridge Street, the Cultural Quarter and Halliwell Jones Stadium, home of Warrington Wolves, before the grand finale.
For bargain hunters, organisers of the EHM are also offering a 20% discount to all runners who participate in the half marathon and the Birchwood 10K. Alternatively, if you are looking to just tackle the 13.1 miles, you can register prior to the price increase here.
