Entries for the Ikano Robin Hood Marathon and Half Marathon are set to close this weekend, with organisers encouraging interested runners to register before the deadline on Saturday (31 August). There is likely to be added interest surrounding the marathon event, which is set to make a return after its cancelleation last year.
After receiving a host of positive reviews, the half marathon is set to draw in a large turnout on Sunday 29 September with 10,000 competitors due to take part.
The fast and flat course - slightly revamped from last year's with a new finish - moves down the the tree-lined University Boulevard and passes through some of the city's most iconic spots, including Castle Boulevard, Trent Bridge and Nottingham Forest's football stadium.
The marathon, cancelled last year for the first time in its 32 year history, is expecting a field of around 2,000 runners. Following the same route as the half until mile 11, the course is said to be fast and flat with a finish at Victoria Embankment.
For those looking to tackle a shorter distance, a Mini Marathon and Corporate Relay will also be taking place. Entry for the marathon is priced at £36 (£38 non-affiliated), while the half marathon is £27.75 (£29.75). More information is available on the event website.
