This Sunday (30 October) will see Sheffield welcome what is set to be a popular fixture to the sporting calendar with the first ever Asda Foundation Sheffield 10K. Staged in partnership with Sheffield City Council, the 10k becomes the latest addition to the Run For All Series.
Sheffield Set For Sunday's Showcase
Sunday’s field will depart from Arundel Gate in the heart of the city and take runners on a journey along Charter Row and Ecclesall Road, before skirting the edges of pretty Endcliffe Park. Participants will then continue along Riverdale Road, past Endcliffe Vale Road, close to the Botanical Gardens, then travel down Brocco Bank and back to what is set to be a thrillng centre finish.
One of those set to compete is Ray Matthews, South Yorkshire’s iconic Marathon Man. Ray, at the age of 75, recently hit the headlines for running 75 marathons in consecutive day. Sunday may however be a less tasking challenge.
Looking ahead to the race, Run For All events manager Lynn Preston commented: “We’re very thrilled to be back in Sheffield for a new 10k run. Our participants are in for an exciting new experience – we hope they enjoy every minute of it, especially that famous Sheffield welcome.”
For anyone still looking to take part, entries for the race are still being taken here.
