Midnight this evening (31 January) is the final point in which you can take take advantage of the standard individual entry for the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon. It is also the last day in which you will be able to get your number personalised with your name in time for race day on Sunday 8 April.
As ever, demand has been high for the 26.2 mile event and it is anticipated that the race will match the 8,500 runners it attracted in 2017. Regarded as one of the friendliest marathons in the UK it also stands as one of the flattest with many choosing the event for its PB potential.
The 26.2-mile route takes in Sale, Brooklands, Timperley, Altrincham, Urmston and Stretford, with athletes congregating pre-race at the athlete’s village at Emirates Old Trafford – home of Lancashire County Cricket Club.
Up for grabs for 2018 is a substantial prize pot that totals £20,000. An incredible £10,000 has been made available for any UK male running under 2:10, and £10,000 for any female runner who breaks 2:26.
The 2018 race will also see the introduction of an International Prize Fund, with prize money up for grabs for the first three male and female international runners to cross the line. These new awards are in addition to the £8,500 prize pot available to male and female British elite runners who finish in the top five places.
