Marathon Chic On The Cote d'Azur

action from the French Riviera Marathon

Elegance isn't a word normally associated with marathon running but possibly the French Riviera Marathon is the exception to the rule. France's second biggest marathon has a perfect location - the prestigious Cote d'Azur, is run at an ideal time of year (Sunday, 8 November in 2015) and enjoys a fast flat course that provides maximum return for effort. Stunning vistas too - snow-capped mountains to the right and the sun-dappled Mediterranean to the left.

The coastal route is a real feature of the French Riviera Marathon; participants will race from the Promenade des Anglais in the heart of Nice to the Croisette Boulevard in Cannes, a few metres from the steps of the iconic Palais des Festivals. Along the way the course passes through glamorous resort towns like Juan-les-Pins and Antibes.

Excellent organisation and high environmental standards mean the event has been rewarded with both the IAAF Bronze Label and French National Olympic Committee Agenda 21 recognition.

A growing number of international participants continue to be attracted to the event with a new record set in 2014. Athletes from 62 different countries took part and international runners made up 32% of the field.
