The 350 places available for the 2016 edition of BTR Liverpool’s Tour of Merseyside were snapped up within hours of going on sale last weekend. Organised by BTR Liverpool, the tour will again see competitors tackle a 52 mile challenge across six separate locations in Merseyside in July next year.
2015 saw Anthony Taylor secure a third victory with an overall time of 4:57:32, followed by Terence Forrest (5:04:52) and Slava Osipovs (5:12:25). In the women’s competition, Natasha Sheel took first in a time of 6:05:43, Gillian Verdin (6:17:31) and Sarah Carroll (6:21:49) third.
The six BTR Tour Of Merseyside events cover a variety of race terrains including beach, road and cross country, and include both morning and evening start times. The 2016 Tour starts with the Southport Half Marathon (5 July), where the runners will participate as guests of Vital Events.
It finishes with the 12-mile Wirral Coastal and runners will cover 52 miles over the course of the week. Southport will be followed by daily races in Thurstaston in Wirral (6 miles), Walton (10 miles), Hale (5 miles), Knowsley on (6 miles), and New Brighton (12 miles).
The first BTR Tour of Merseyside took place in July 2013 with 73 tourists completing the inaugural event. This year (2015) 268 runners managed to complete the 52 mile challenge.
